I have a set I got from Buzzard Gulch, each pliers has a fixed tip, you unscrew the pivot and flip them over to go from spread to squeeze style. They are only about a year old, but have done the job every time I needed them.

Here is one instance where the Harbor Freight version isn't worth the trouble to carry home. I threw my HF set in the iron barrel, so I wouldn't be tempted to try to use them again.
