Subject: Re: Y Series vs. RR2Yield

Why not market the yield increases that have been observed with RR2 yield and the Y series? Sure you can say there is a significant yield increase with RR2 yield and the Y series. The RR2 yield plant is different than the RR1 plant. The roundup gene was moved to a different area of the genome, consequently, the new location happened to be between two genes that express yield in the soybean plant. Same thing with the Y series beans, through a marker system Pioneer soybean breeders located a couple of genes that express yield in beans, these genes are now in the Yseries beans along with disease and nematode resistance. You need the disease and nematode resistance in the beans to help with the yield along with the genes that express yield(You need the seed treatment also). That is why Monsanto can't release the RR2 yield in a bunch of varieties yet, because they don't have the disease resistance and nematode resistance in the varieties that would carry the RR2 yield. Pioneer can release a lot of Y series varieties because they have the disease and nematode resistance in the beans. SO NO you can't give the all the credit to seed treatment.

And comparing M11's to the Y series! There is a reason that the M11's hold the world record for most units sold of one variety.
