The price of RR1 beans from what I have heard will be around 50 bucks a bag so there is no drop in the cost of these beans. It is true that P and M have been using marker assisted breeding for years now, but for some reason with Optimum GAT getting pushed back 2-3 years P has to come out with something. The Y series sounds like it is just the same thing they do every year with beans. Of course your beans are going to yield better. It does sound like M is saying that there was a yield drag with RR1 beans so now they are inserting the gene in the "yield" part of the genome.
