If the little engine burned propane, then dumping the exhaust into the air stream should be no worse than a propane powered dryer. Most of the small engines re burn any crankcase fumes.

Efficiency would be 100% if all exhaust and cooling heat was dumped into the fan intake. Problem would be when you want only to cool the grain . I suppose the engine could be offset and belt driving the fan so exhaust and cooling heat could be ducted into or away from the fan intake. That would also reduce the fans fuel efficiency from 100% (all cooling and exhaust heat used) to 25% if all heat was routed away from the fan.
