Thumb of Michigan | John, my mention of eminant domain and Gore came from his plan to enlarge the US holdings of forest land back when he was running for pres. He feels that the publiclly owned National Redwoods are a national treasure. I agree. He felt that the biggest threat to the redwoods was private land ownership. I disagree. A bunch. In fact, lots of proof to the contrary. Anyway, he was going to expand the borders of the redwood forest by something like 400,000 acres. From what I recall, eminant domain was a big part of how that was to be done. My first reaction was OK, then what? What happens to the neighbors on the "new" border of the Redwood forest? And how long before he eminant domains himself right up to my back door?
I don't know if Gore was involved in the Everglades at all. I was wrong in throwing that in my post. But I hope you can see where I'm coming from. | |
