Subject: Dryland Corn Plant

Victoria, Australia
Just looking to plant corn in the next 2-3 weeks, there is no corn grown in these parts, so am a bit limited in info.
On plant poulations, we plant 18,000/acre. just wondering what rate farmers plant in the dry parts of the US, how high can you go before you risk over populating.
We get around 7" of in crop rain, and store around 3" of plant available moisture. Yields are avg around 60bu/a.
Just getting concerned we may have been lucky over the past few years, with lower Temp. at flowering, and how much can high temps and dry reduce yield during pollination.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Jim
