Subject: RE: two on the bottom

Southwest Missouri
We set our spears 30 inches apart. I like the two because the round bale does not rotate. After moving, it can still be set on the flattened bottom.

With 30 inch spacing and the spears at the bottom, they can be used to pickup pallets when not moving hay. They can also pickup posts, logs, or other heavy items.

The first spears we made were 2 1/2 inch cold rolled round steel that I used a lathe to make the point. That was time consuming. I now buy the ones with a tapered socket.
