Archer Iowa
I can't offer much details on any head other than Deeres but Deere has really changed the corn heads on the new 600 series. They upgraded just about everything. The gearboxes have changed some. They also use a much larger and heavier duty gathering chain along with heavier duty lower and upper sprockets. They also changed their knife rolls but I have not seen how they cut the stalks. They also changed the way the snouts fold, which make them easier to get at the row units. Also they give you a lube line up top for each gearbox- so its not neccessary to crawl under the head to grease them. So all in all they made them easier to work on and are built heavier to increase the components life.
