Australia | Those Iowa dealers sure have a task ahead of them convincing people to pay substantial yearly subs in a state soon to have free CORS. Some people have asked why the dealers don't sell their stations to the DOT? The main issue is that the stations are too close to each other, and most have not been installed to the required standards. They mostly don't have have geodetic antennas, have poor mounting and are not inter-connected. The DOT's would have to spend significant funds on each site to get them up to par, and it is simply easier and cheaper to roll out properly installed and monitored stations. The integrity monitoring on DOT CORS is ongoing and a significant investment each year.
It will only take Iowa DOT less than 1 year to cover 35 million acres with a fraction of the stations Deere dealers have in Iowa now. | |
