Its a lot harder warming up and drying out the Minnesota tundra than down south. And the growing season is short enough that warming and drying are critical to making the crop. Iowa's marshy spots probably are about the same, though I'm switching to no till right next to a county marsh. Those strips warm and dry up north to speed planting.
