Interesting, sounds expensive. I was wondering if farmers could use some sort of livestock byproduct to help power a home. When I drive back from Chicago to my house you pass this landfill on 88 that has a flame burning off gas into the atmosphere- 24/7/365. It makes me so mad it's so wasteful.

I think if I was to try to go off the grid I would build substantially underground and then use tubes with mirrors bring sunlight in . Then have a huge heat reservoir with water even deeper and try to use the primary structural elements of the home, like round metal tubes, to not only support the load but also to carry the cooling/heating water from the heat sink. And maybe fin them so they transfer heat well and look sharp.
