Southeast Florida | I've got a 6.0L and 8.1L 2500HD at the farm. They both get about the same mileage running in the field chasing broke down pivots, 8-10 mpg. The 6.0L is a dog compared to the 8.1L and when we pull anything it really shows then. I’d just soon have the 8.1L as the 6.0L for a HD truck. Neither truck has given any problems either and both approaching 100K miles too.
A friend of mine has a 4X4 crew cab, 8.1L that has headers, exhaust system and some sort programmer in his truck that gets 13-15 mpg. He drives like me too; 80 mph normal and 100 when in a hurry and it doesn’t take very long to get to 80 either.
