The only thing Landoll has which resembles anything Sunflower has is the disk, and it also looks just like a Deere, Case, Krause, Great Plains, and Baker.   There's apparently only about one way to build a disk at this time. 

I think that it's not uncommon to see a turnover of personnel when a company is absorbed by another company.   Things change when that happens, and sometimes those who are personally invested in things as they have been do not like that change.
