| The best of the Briggs engines is the Vanguard series. I like it and also the new Kaw. engines better than Kohler and Honda. They all make cheap engines and good engines. Also you might look at parts cost. I have Kaw engine in my new Scag mower and a Kohler in an older mower. Have had good luck with both. Just keep them serviced and use stabil and MMo in the fuel. Never have fuel problems. Service of the oil , fuel and air filters Makes all the difference in all engines. Never keep fuel in metal cans, saves a lot of rust and crud problems.
