Just my opinion, but with proper maintenance and care this engine should serve you well. Honda and other small engine makers have lighted a fire under BS caused them to improve there designs. Another factor is current air pollution standards have forced them to stop making the old side valve engines. Some of their engines used to be made in Japan, but they are probably made in China now. Using Sta-bil fuel preservative in the gasoline will stop most of the pita carburetor problems.
