Subject: RE: Talking about Grease.....depends on the application

Driftless SW Wisconsin

We use the Mobil XHP222 in all Dawn products at the factory. It is an excellent lithium based water resistant grease for low speed tapered roller bearing and many other applications. Approved by Timken.

There are also many applications which require different greases. Take a look at the grease shelf at a good Deere or other major line dealership. Many different greases for many different applications. Sliding vs rolling contact, low speed vs high speed, etc. Be careful when changing. I would ask WHY a parts man feels a certain grease is better in a certain application than another. The grease that is best for say the articulation pivots in a 4wd tractor or slide pads in a telehandler boom (high pressure, low speed sliding contact - usually molydisulfide) are very different from the requirements of a roller bearing (lithium).
