Subject: RE: Using Scepter for volunteer RR corn

Nevada, Iowa
Carryover is a concern. I can't remember what the rates were that we used but we had significant carryover in corn in 1988. It was a very dry season here and that was the biggest contributing factor but some corn took an easy 20 bu. hit. American Cyanimid wrote many checks that fall. They brought out Pursuit that year which had less carryover concerns and we never used Scepter again. In 1987 most of the Scepter used here was probably preplant incorporated which usually means a higher initial rate.

I think that Scepter or Pursuit would probably keep volunteer corn issues at a minimum but control would be too strong of an explanation for what it does. Agree with the term supression on this one.
