E.Central MN | I think the govt programs should have had caps to reduce or eliminate payments when crop prices reached certain levels. The farms that are signed up for countercyclical payments already get no payment. I think its unfair for news broadcasters to single out farmers as being the biggest part of the rise in food prices, especially when the facts they use are in error. US farmers planted more wheat acres last year, not less unless you are only looking at one category of wheat(spring wheat) and even there it was within the normal range of acres planted. I suppose now that electricity is also increasing it will be blamed on ethanol as well. | |
