Subject: crp vs grain & land price

North Central Kansas
On Larry Steckline's report the other day, had some gal from the Bakery comminsion. They were complaining about the price of wheat going up so much. Now it will cost 10 to 12 cents per loaf instead of 6 to 8 cents per loaf of bread to buy the wheat. They want to push to have some CRP acres brought out and farmed. Not all of them mind you, but some. Dad tells when they first started this program, some guys put all their farm in, because it was more money then renting, even if the land was terraced. I have seen some myself that is great looking, but in crp. We will see what happens the next 5 years. Esp with the prices of land & grain being what they are now. I would bet that we see some coming out of it.

thoughts?
