Subject: RE: Rural High Speed Internet again??????????

I had Direcway for several years which I purchased through Earthlink. It was OK but as newer modems and higher bandwidth options became available I was unable to upgrade because of the agreement between Earthlink and Direcway (now Hughes). In order to get newer equipment with more bandwidth I ended up cancelling my Earthlink service and subscribing to Hughes. They provided me with the latest modem and I was able to reuse my old dish. So far I've been pretty pleased. Worst problem with any satellite based service is the weather vulnerability. It's much more sensitive than TV satellite.

I did check into Wildblue but was told they were not taking any new subscribers due to bandwidth issues. Not sure if that's just my area or nationwide.
