Tekonsha, Michigan | We raise 20 to 40 feeder calves per year. My feedlot is 2 large pens probably around 60x60, so lets say 120 x 120 pen these guys run in. The floor is dirt / mud base and we have never really been able to recover manure out of it, mother nature kind of takes its course. How in the world can I figure out if its worth the input to shrink their space and cement it so that I'm able to recover this manure to use for fertilizer? What is it worth? and are 30 steers enough to make it worth doing? Should I just concentrate under the feed bunk and the barn floor? or am I just wasting my time?
I have no idea how many tons comes out of these guys in a years time. There diet is ground corn and alfalfa if that helps any.
Sorry for so many questions I just think fert prices are ridiculous.
