On topic, with P becoming such a big player in regulations now (at least in PA), I would encourage all who want to use poultry manure to look at P balancing more than N. If you spread poultry for N needs you will get P out of whack real quick. Look at the poultry litter as your P source primarily and N source secondary.

Brian, We have been doing just that for "oh" I would say seven to ten years. We were in a pilot program with four other farmers in Pa. through Penn.State. Can't remember the Dr.'s name that we worked with but maybe Martin can. The whole program was to focus on P. and not N. I think the program lasted about four years. So when Martin now takes our soil samples that is what we focus on is the amount of P. in the soil in that field and spread ether turkey or heifer manure based on that reading. So far so good for us.
