I needed to read more, sorry, I am getting bad about this. Auger is sounding empty.

You won't wreck your soil in test plots. I doubt you will wreck your soil at all. I think you will soften like you want. Mine is dust today, truly crumbly, not hard, great soil tilth but needs rain.

Check your sources to see what form yours is in and ask more questions.

I spread one ton to three tons high calicium lime depending on the soil test and 1000-2000 lbs of gypsum per acre when and if I can get it. That is here, you are there. Don't know your soil or your lab.
