Subject: RE: Storing grain in Oil tanks

We have about a dozen of them that we use for storing wheat. The best way to clean one out (it's by no means environmentally friendly) is to pile a bunch of old tires inside, throw a match, and let a good hot fire burn everything off the inside of the tank. Don't waste your time putting a roof on one either. Build at stand out of pipe to hold the tank at about a 45 degree angle. Weld an end gate door flush past the bottom, and there won't be anything left to scoop when it stops running.
