I live on the western plains and there is some irrigated milo around but mostly corn and beans. From what research has been done around here milo prefers it to be on the dry side early but when it gets to the boot stage and shooting a head then into pollination, milo actually can require more water than corn. On limited irrigation out here it is highly reccommended to only apply water at the heading stage but apply a lot quickly. Yields in the 150s are common. I don't think maybe we fertilize enough and take care of it and really push it like we do our corn. |
