SE Illinois my overall milo yield was about 100 bu this year. High of 111, low of 45, but taking total acres and total bushels averaged just over 100. Can it do 200? Yes, I think so. But probably not too far east. We get more disease, less sunlight, and really don't understand it. My personal best was 156 dry bu/a off 52 acres. I have not figured out irrigating milo in SE IL. This year I had about 4.5 acres as isolation on an irrigated seed corn field. Measured exactly by the seed co. it made 111. 90 acres non-irrigated a mile and half north on poorer ground went 100. Few years ago I had one field irrigated, one not irrigated. The irrigated was better dirt, better fertility, made .1 bu/a better. Has anyone in the Ohio valley tried fungicide on milo? I wonder if in our more humid environment it would pay? |
