| Grass works well. Sod or grass hay.
It isn't too hard to grow low potassium hay on muck and you don't have to plow it every year, and grass isn't damaged much by frost. It does take a different marketing plan than corn or beans. The big dairies need it for dry cows.
Sod needs to be watered most years and it takes 2 or 3 years for a crop. Also you need special equipment. If you don't sell it one year it is still good the next year. | |
