Subject: strip till

SE ND
Have a pretty good opprotunity to get into a strip tool machine at a good price. We are currently set up to apply 28% with our floater but with the price WAY up on 28% this year the strip till unit would allow us to save enough in fertilizer cost alone to cover the cost of the machine since it would allow us to apply dry at a cheaper price. However there is not a lot of strip till in our area so i have a few concerns. If you can cut your fertilizer rate how much is a reasonable amount to cut, 15%?, 20? I have heard 20% is common but it seems like alot to me. Does the amount you apply decrease just because it is in a furrow below the seed? Any help or experience would be great, thanks!
