Subject: RE: Chicken turkey litter, weeds

Not near what it did in years past. With the widespread use of RR crops, most of the fields are cleaner at harvest. Therefore, that would translate to cleaner feed. 20 years ago I remember stockpiles of chicken manure that would be solid lambsquarters. I have stockpiled turkey manure with very little weed cover resulting. My home farm has had turkey manure applied since 1996 and we have seen very little annual weed problems. Could also be that chemicals are better today than 20 years ago.

The benefits of manure far exceed the weed concern.
