Slicker than a Yes album.
In 2005 we had a bad windstorm, knocked over 1200 acres of corn. We had a poly cornhead and decided to try going directly across the rows. You wouldn't think it would work on 30" rows, but we found very few cobs on the ground. The main thing that helped that year was an Auto track unit on the combine. We set it 1 foot narrower than the corn head and went to town.
The wind blew out of the NW, so anything planted N-S we went on the rows, and the east west planting was harvested cross ways. The auto track made it work because you didn't have to keep such a close eye on the end of the header.
