we had a guy around here do that with his 6620 last year. it must've worked great because this spring you could see all the volunteer corn around the edges where he tried his corn head first. Where he ran the bean head , there was hardly any. I personally would not do it. you are gauranteed to run EVERYTHING through the combine at that point and thats gonna cause excessive wear.
