| Does anyone use a JD no-till drill/air seeder to apply dry fertilizer between seed rows while drilling milo and how does the yield compare to broadcasting dry fertilizer in late winter?
I am new to farming and have a lot to learn...... My first milo crop experience: I used a spinner to spread dry fertilizer in Febuary and then drilled milo with a JD 1560 drill on 15" centers and did real well for a beginner (luck?)! My second milo crop experience: I spread dry in March and drilled the milo on 7.5" centers with a JD 750 drill and I ended up with patches of healthy dark green milo plants and patches of sick looking milo!! (beginners luck ran out???) I guess the fertilizer volatized or something? I am thinking if I drill the dry fertilizer between the seed rows while planting it will not volatize and should result in a better stand but would like confirmation from people with experience.
