I agree that drag lines would be great from a compaction standpoint but they aren't feasible in lots of areas.
In my area we have no trouble at all with compaction if we get it done in the fall. Our ground mellows out over winter very well. I will agree that when the frost is sneaking up on a guy the speed of a dragline system looks very nice!
