northwest tennessee
ON my cattle here at home I vacc once for blackleg but a friend that runs feeders will vacc when he gets them and if they move later to another farm he will re vacc before they move. He had trouble once doing that and the vet told him there were times you needed to vacc more. Something else I learned is if you have an out break of it you can get it under control and even sa ve one that is showing stiffness. He had it in a group and we sent dead ones to the lab and they confirmed blackleg. We got the whole bunch up and gave them lang lasting pen. at more than a double dose and vacc. them. It stopped it and there was one that was swelling and laying down and was stiff. She recovered from it and stayed stiff for a couple weeks and did not die. I never knew you could do that. If I had not seen it I would not have believed it.
