Subject: F1 calves and increased immunity

East River SoDak
Was reading an interesting article this evening about increased immunity in calves and cross-breeding and the author made the comment that cross-bred calves have stronger immune systems because their cross-bred mothers have more antibodies which they pass along to the calf through the colostrum. If i'm understanding this right then F1 calves wouldn't have better immune systems than their purebred siblings because their purebred mothers didn't have the extra antibodies in their colostrum as opposed to a cross-bred cow. So my question is to all the folks that have purebred calves along with F1 calves, can you tell the difference in health between your F1's and your purebred calves? Do your purebreds get sick more often than their F1 siblings?
