Missouri
Would not be the first calf, nor the last to find papers. Cattle really change from 1050 to 1300 pounds. Not uncommon for show steers to actually weigh 50-100 pounds more than scale program weights as they shrink them prior to weigh in. Herford division is really popular here in Mo and the organization does a lot to promote the breed with the youth. Think they add $1000 to to Herf carcass steer that was bought from a Mo breeder. One county fair had extra think it was $1000 to any Herf steer that wins grand champion. The breeder would add $100 a year till it happened. Kids had about as much fun with him as any black we have had. That year steers names Salt and Pepper. Our steer that year got really big like #1400 one of the first elephants we had. Steer had right at 1 inch back fat and almost yield grade 5, think he was select plus. Sorry, last herf and only one we will ever have, he was fun and that is what its all about.
