Chilliwack BC | Our soil has lots of peat in it so adding sand does it more good than harm, and probably improves drainage as well.
We don't have a sand lane but 2 dairies within a few miles do, milking 1000 and 1800 cows. All stories coming from those places about the sand lanes is positive. They have a 90% recovery rate. If we built new facilities in the next while, a sand lane would be included in it. I don't have any pictures or know any details such as slope% of the neighbors.
I agree about not digging it out of a lagoon being a big advantage. The other is a huge reduction in your bedding bill. | |
