Texas/New Mexico Stateline | Unless you are trying to stretch your wheat pasture, skip the cubes. Wheat is already high protein. I doubt it will pay to feed them. Put out some roughage hay and mineral/salt, and they will do fine as long as the weather is dry. 2.5 - 3 lbs here is pretty common on good years. I can't pass up on wheat pasture when it is available, that is good money in your pocket that won't get hailed out or burn up. We got good pasture last year on wheat that was burned up, and we wouldn't have gotten anything else besides insurance. Didn't even start a combine. |
