Subject: RE: What to test for on my problem/open cows?

Driftless SW Wisconsin

I had one open at preg check last week. I knew something was up by the time my vet spent on the palp. He said she had some sort of uterine problem.  What did your vet have to say? I sold mine the next day sale at Bloomington. It was nice to get over $1000 for an open cow that has given me 3 nice calves while solving a problem, saving $500 in annual carrying cost and improving herd genetics.  If I had a number of opens I would have a bse and trich test on every bull. If this has been building for years it may be a herd fertility problem which should be helped by culling every open. Good luck.
