Phase of the moon, has more to do with it, than I think most believe. At least my grandpa always thought so. We would wean the calves by the farmers almanac time. I always remember, when we worked his, we didnt seem to have any problems, and they did a whole lot less bawling the following time period. On my Dads and my cowherd, we would just work and wean them when we had the time and manpower. Sometimes, according to my grandpa, it was the right time, and sometimes it wasnt. But, I always took notice of the time period we weaned ours on, after the fact, just to take notes. Kind of interesting, I thought...
