S.C. Wisconsin
Good idea rancherman, that's how we got started with the way we feed calves. A few years a go bull calves were only bringing 5-10 dollars but would bring good money weaned. I borrowed a barrel feeder from my neighbor and put the bull calves in a pen and dumped all of our raw waste milk in the barrel. I told the calves that it's going to survival of the fittest, if you don't get up to drink you are going to die as I am not going to treat any sickness. My wife was struggling feeding the heifer calves with tons of medicine, milk replacer, and A LOT OF FRUSTRATION. My calves were much healthier with no medicine or special care, she became jealous and said we should feed all of the calves that way. The rest is history. Sometime a person can do something stupid and it actually works quite well.
