| Well said Jim. Personally, I would much rather deal with a herd of Hereford cows and a handful of Angus bulls than the other way around.
Any discussion on Hereford vs Angus usually degenerates into something like a Chevy vs Ford discussion anyway. ;-) IMO, neither breed alone ever beats the combination of Hereford X Angus. But there has to be straight bred herds of both breeds somewhere to keep up crossbreeding with.
Remember the old Reese's peanut butter cup ads? "You got chocolate in my peanut butter/You got peanut butter in my chocolate." That's the way I like to look at it. The first cross baldy combines the best of both Hereford and Angus along with the free advantage of heterosis. And the resulting steer should qualify for both CAB and CHB. | |
