northwest tennessee | I dont know about the Merill hydrants but have heard good things about the Woodford. I will tell you what I know about repairing the hydrants without digging them up. We have Simmons here and they used to be good hydrants but are junk now and you are lucky to get 3 years out of them if you use them much. You can work on them above ground too but what has happend to them is the brass piece that you attach to your water line below ground has gotten so cheap that pulling the top off and replacing the workings does not work. The brass erodes away and you have to dig and replace. The company says they are made in the USA but the metals remind me alot of China. I am going to order some Woodfords to have when these go out here. | |
