| I will second that! Our girls have shown our home bred Dorset wethers, purchased "clubby" type wethers and purchased commercial lambs. Two years ago our oldest had the 6th place carcass lamb (out of 300+ lambs) at the Iowa State Fair in the 4H division. He would have been higher yet if his live points hadn't been so low. the live points are assigned by the lamb's place in the ring. He was middle of the pack in his class because the judge couldn't get past the 4 inch tail. No joke. That lamb was the ONLY market lamb in the whole barn with a tail.
The club-type lambs the girls have shown have been, for the most part, decent lambs so far as growth. But we don't starve them either. | |
