Subject: Re: Washing Machine and Septic

I have heard the detergents expecially the ones with bleach alternative not to mention the stuff that is being washed out of the cloths can be damaging to the lawn/grass ect... If you don't care about the health of the yard I say leave it be. I know personally with septic systems you want to stager those laundry days to keep from "killing" the ecosystem in your tank. However you could go as far as developing your own dry well/leach field just for the laundry but IMO that would be a lot of extra work for really no gain as you still run into the problem of the ground only being able to absorb and take away so much water at a time.

We had scheduled days for white, colors, and heavy soiled cloths and stuck to that and never had a problem with the septic system. Really doing back to back to back loads is what causes the problem. A HE washer somewhat eliminates the problem.
