nw NC | Perhaps I did not make it clear that the prices of $2.80 and $2.65 included the processing. That is why I deducted processing of $.53 to arrive at $2.27 and $2.12 respectively. Those prices of the hanging carcasses compare to very near what live prices would be for said animal type. For the Guernsey, (which would probably not yield more than 50-55%), $2.12 hanging would equate to approximately $1.06 on hoof, especially good for a dairy type steer. My friend pays the processing and then recovers it from the buyer. | |
