Eastern Iowa | My little town was the home of one baseball Hall of Famer (Red Faber), and oddly, both a head basketball coach for Iowa State University (Greg McDermott, now at Creighton) and a radio announcer for the University of Iowa (Gary Dolphin), rival schools in our state.
They have developed a nice industrial base there, with manufactured products from a number of plants shipping all over the Midwest--precast concrete products, wood and steel roof trusses, machined steel products for Deere and Case IH. The old PaceSetter ATVs were built by a family company in town long ago. That company now is a subcontractor that builds golf/turf equipment for Mother Deere.
