Subject: RE: On Angus just go back to the original bulls,

New Mexico
and research em "Grey Breasted Jock," etc..

There's plenty of documented white varient in Angus, just a few early examples as follows:
Volume 17, Angus Herdbook, entries from 3/1907 thru 3/1908:

"Note: Conforming to an amendment of the bylaws adopted 11/17/1900, the color and white markings upon females are given only when occuring above the underline or on legs or feet.
Markings so given of off colored females recorded in this volume will be found upon page 401."

sampling of entries from page 401 ( 55 head listed there )
102490 Roxy Gem-white hind feet
10500 Daisy of White Pine4-white on 4 feet and left hind leg to hock
104185 Spot of Brenna-white spot on forehead
104884 Oak Ridge Elva-brown

Six cattle are listed as red.

Some of the popular AI bulls in the early 70's had supposedly to much white om em to be registered in the late 60's.
The Association changed the rules so some of those were then registered later etc.

On Chars...the usa originals came out of Mexico, were bred up from Herefords there.

There is really NO such thing as a totally pure breed of anything ( no how, no where ).
Always takes a few good Mutts in there somewhere to keep the genetic loci action up.
