Seaforth, Ontario | My memory of Black and Massey is blurry at best; but I think what Redman was trying to say is that Balck raided the pension plan and broke the union along with destoying the company; by starting up a new company with Candian and Ontario government's aid, then skipping the country without fulfilling obligations or repaying any moneys he added to his own personal wealth. That was the extent of his involvement in many companies; grab any tax credits, grants, loans, pension plan money, buildings and other assets and to hell with the employees and customers. Not saying Massey would have survived, but it didn't stand a chance once Black got involved. BTW, I bought one of the last 550s and one of the first 9100 series flex heads. I was close enough to Toronto that the engineers would come out and watch/adjust their 'new' floating head mechanism. I liked it better than Gleaner and Case flex's that I operated later. The 550 was a worst buy!
