Competitive bidding leads to cheap parts, cheap bids lead to cut corners. You either have to sell a "premium" product, or figure out how else to control your expenses. Esp. in GM's case, if you cant make the "product advantage" angle work, you have to start accepting compromise. Its a vicious cycle, I hope they can break it, and I hope the suppliers can deliver better products for assembly - for all US brands.
